Noida International Airport, or Jewar Airport, will be operational for commercial purposes from April 17, 2025. As per its sustainability goals, the airport has tied up with Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) to have two CNG stations installed and EV charging points. These are:

    • CNG Stations: A single station in the west precinct for public consumption and a single one on the airside for airport consumption, encouraging cleaner fuel options.
    • EV Charging Infrastructure: To accommodate the increasing number of electric vehicles, charging centers will be available, providing convenience not only to airport personnel but also to passengers.

The facility is one of the many initiatives by the airport to minimize emissions and promote environmentally friendly activities in its operations. The airport will serve 12 million passengers in phase one and increase capacity to 70 million passengers after the four development phases are finished. Noida Airport will also be Asia’s largest and the world’s fourth-largest airport, dramatically increasing air travel capacity in the National Capital Region (NCR) of India.

Noida International Airport is creating a new standard for air travel sustainability with its new initiative. The as-yet-unopened airport has collaborated with Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) to bring in CNG stations and EV charging stations onto its own property. Not only does this promote cleaner transport, but it also gets onboard with the world’s shift toward cleaner aviation methodologies.

    CNG Stations for Cleaner Fuel

The project will involve the setting up of two CNG stations within the airport – one in the west precinct and the other on airside. This is a move to minimize the carbon footprint of the vehicles that are moving in and around the airport. CNG as a cleaner fuel compared to conventional fuels will help in minimizing air pollution, which is a major issue in the Noida area.

EV Charging Points for the Future

Along with CNG, part of the deal also involves installing EV charging points. This visionary move takes advantage of the increasing use of electric vehicles, making life easier and supportive to passengers, employees, and business partners towards using electric vehicles as opposed to conventional fuel-based vehicles. This move is especially significant because it is tailored for the future when electric vehicles will be the ones dominating the roads.

The activity by the airplane terminal aligns with bigger natural objectives, such as checking greenhouse gas outflows and cleaner air for the Delhi-NCR locale.

    Improving the Travel Experience

Through the integration of these green innovations, the airplane terminal isn’t only advancing sustainability but moreover improving the travel involvement. Travelers can refuel or charge their vehicles with ease, hence making their journey to and from the airport more convenient and sustainable. This could be a move that might eventually set Noida Airport apart as a model of how airport development should be done with environmental considerations in the future.

The construction of these buildings in Noida International Airport is proof of India’s new urban infrastructure and planning face. It is a reflection of a vision in which each new building considers its impact on the environment right from the beginning. When the airport is nearing completion, these green efforts will definitely be cause for pride and working examples of sustainable development.

Noida Airport’s partnership with IGL to introduce CNG fuel stations and EV charging stations on its campus is a trend-setting move in the aviation industry. It highlights how mass-scale infrastructure can be created with sustainability as the central theme, and other initiatives in the country could soon follow the same green footsteps. Noida Airport advances sustainability with EV charging stations.
