Look around, and you will spot plastic everywhere in your toothbrush, the comb on your dresser, and stuff in your kitchen. With more people and more stuff comes a mountain of plastic waste. It’s a big problem, especially in India. But in Kolkata, something refreshingly simple is catching on: Amwoodo.

Amwoodo’s team doesn’t aim to intimidate anyone with pessimistic statistics or climate-related lectures. They just want to make it easy for people to switch to better choices, no drama, no lifestyle overhaul.

    How It All Started

In 2019, Sourav Dey, Agni Mitra, and Avijit Rajak launched Amwoodo. Their take was honest: most people want to live greener, but eco-friendly options are either too expensive or difficult to find. So they kept it simple and made everyday things from bamboo. However, make them affordable so that anyone can use them.

That idea took off. Now, thousands of Indian homes trust Amwoodo.

    Everyday Swaps That Make Sense

What does Amwoodo actually make? Stuff you use all the time: bamboo toothbrushes, combs, razors, cutlery, towels, pens, and more. The only difference is, they are not plastic anymore.

Bamboo is the hero here. It grows crazy fast, barely needs water, and once you are done with it, it just breaks down on its own. It’s not just about being eco-friendly or Bamboo actually works. It’s practical.

Supporting People, Not Just the Planet

Amwoodo isn’t just about products. They team up with farmers and artisans in West Bengal and Tripura, giving them steady work and a reliable paycheck. So the brand isn’t just fighting plastic. Moreover, it’s creating jobs and helping real people.

    On the Rise

September 2025 was a big moment: Amwoodo raised $4 million in pre-Series. Got funding from Rainmatter (Zerodha). They are using this money to expand factories, boost their EcoConscious online platform, launch more green brands, and reach even more people across the country.

    Why It Matters

India’s pushing hard to cut down on plastic and clean up its act. Amwoodo proves you don’t have to turn your life upside down or break the bank to help. By swapping plastic for bamboo in everyday stuff, Amwoodo is helping India take real, doable steps toward a greener future .
