Senvion India has marked a milestone in the local renewable energy industry by surpassing 1 GW of installed wind turbine capacity. The company’s success indicates its role in India’s wind power development and local manufacturing under the ‘Make in India’ policy.

The company also made public the successful installation of 500 nacelles from its factory in Baramati, Maharashtra. Senvion has also produced 500 sets of blades from its blade factories in Vadodara, Gujarat, and Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. All these show Senvion’s increasing presence in India’s renewable energy market.

Increasing Localisation and Production in India

Senvion India has achieved over 80% localisation at the sub-component level and is moving towards 100% localisation in the future. This will go in line with India’s dream of being a world-class wind turbine manufacturing hub and becoming a centre for the wind energy industry. Through a focus on local manufacturing, Senvion is contributing to generating jobs, technology advancement, and economic development in the country.

“Senvion’s expansion in India has created jobs and enhanced local production, enabling India to become a dream for the manufacture of wind turbines,” the company said.

    Boosting India’s Wind Energy Industry

Amit Kansal, Senvion India CEO & Managing Director, recognized the journey of the company to reach this milestone. “It was some time back when we reached the 1 GW commissioned base, and we are very thankful to customers for this. More than 95% of 1 GW is on Senvion’s extensive maintenance program,” said Kansal.

He also highlighted the future strategy of the company, and said, “While 1 GW is already grid-connected, the next 1 GW is in different stages of commissioning, supported by firm orders to accomplish it in the next 12 months. Senvion’s commitment towards the Indian wind power sector is unwavering and ambitious, and in the near future we will have commissioned our next-generation turbine of 4.2 MW as earlier announced.”

Steering India’s Future of Renewable Energy

With India marching ahead on the path of cleaner energy, Senvion India’s work becomes a critical contribution towards enabling the country to realize its wind energy aspirations. The government’s emphasis on sustainable development and renewable energy has Senvion’s localisation, innovation, and expansion in harmony with India’s vision for a cleaner tomorrow.
