In a candid conversation with “Green is the Future”, Ravi Thakkar, country manager of HYXiPOWER (Australia), explained that the firm was increasingly keen on the Indian renewable energy sector, with some insight into the product strategy for high-voltage inverters and storage solutions and regulatory and price issues in one of the fastest-growing solar markets.
HYXiPOWER, a global smart energy brand based in China, is already operational in more than 12 countries and is now entering India in the residential and commercial & industrial (C&I) arenas, which are key pillars in the clean energy transition of India.
Innovation for Product Development: Solar + Storage
As they promote solar PV with storage technology adoption in India, HYXiPOWER has come up with a line of all-in-one hybrid inverters and battery systems, both for residential and C&I applications. The product range includes:
- Single-phase and three-phase residential hybrid inverters combined with battery storage.
- An all-in-one commercial cabinet offering an inverter capacity of 100–105kW and battery capacity of 215kWh.
- Containerised utility-scale solutions with a capacity of 3-5MWh.
“We are also launching the single-phase all-in-one units in Q3-Q4, 2025,” said Thakkar.
India’s price-sensitive market: The balance.
“Given India’s price-sensitive landscape, HYXiPOWER’s pricing is especially competitive with high-voltage applications – more for 6-7kW and above,” noted Thakkar. “They are getting traction with customers buying 100kW-120kW units.”
Thakkar emphasised the company’s quality management focus, even when manufactured in China, underpinned by R&D and service infrastructure in China, Europe, and soon Australia.
“Our goal is to sell products that are at least on the same level or superior to what is available in the market—at more competitive rates.” The rest of the name would later read.
First Distribution, With Partnerships to be Empowered
At present, HYXiPOWER operates in India with regional distributors, one in South India and the other managing North India, led from Delhi. The company is also active in scouting opportunities in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Bhopal.
No formal partnerships have yet been established with EPCs or government organisations, but Thakkar expressed strong interest:
“100%, that will be the next step, to partner with the Indian government and focus more on giving back to the community.”
Regulatory Hurdles & Policy Inconsistency
Thakkar did not shy away from criticising India’s slow and inconsistent regulatory approvals, particularly in relation to the BIS certification and import duties.
100kW+ inverters require no BIS but must comply with IEC standards (62109 & 62116), which he says can take 3-4 months to process, hurting distributors and end users.
Another hindrance is the 20% import duty on Chinese inverters, which is creating havoc in the supply chain.
“If approvals took 15-30 days, the market would run much more smoothly,” he said.
India’s Position in the Global Strategy of HYXiPOWER
Although India is an important market for HYXiPOWER, it is actually expanding into Australia, Europe, and Southeast Asia.
However, Thakkar observed that India is yet to do justice to its annual renewable targets, accomplishing only about 25-30% of anticipated installations in 2024.
“Yes, India has a solar boom coming in the next 3-5 years. But, aggressive execution is needed to meet the target of 2030.”
Women in Energy and Impact Social
HYXiPOWER walks the talk on gender equity, with 35-40% of its workforce comprising women in the sales, marketing and R&D teams. Thakkar also emphasized the need for public-private partnerships to create livelihood programs and support local solar enterprises when working directly with government-backed infrastructure.
Message to Indian Consumers: Choose Value, Not Just Price
In conclusion, Thakkar urged Indian consumers to not only consider price:
“Don’t compare apples with oranges. Focus on value, quality, and the experience of your installer. That makes all the difference in solar project performance.”
He went further to say end users should consult with experts and evaluate product certification and service records given safety issues and wiring concerns for rooftop installations.
Conclusion
As India races towards a greener future, HYXiPOWER is positioning itself as a global brand ready to deliver energy solutions with technological advancements and competitive pricing, and with an impact orientation backed by local logic and global experience.
