The government has significantly increased funding for solar, wind, and green hydrogen projects. The budget gives priority to domestic solar module manufacturing and green energy with the extension of incentives under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. The move points at decreasing reliance on imports and encourage bracing India’s position as a worldwide center for renewable energy manufacturing.
In addition, the government has too declared modern plans for growing rooftop solar establishments beneath programs such as the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, making solar control more open to families over India.
Green Hydrogen and Energy Storage in Focus
The budget also includes subsidies and incentives for the National Green Hydrogen Mission, towards production and infrastructure for green hydrogen. This is aligned with the goal of India being among the world leaders in production and export of green hydrogen by the year 2030.
Energy storage also got a look-in, with funding allocated toward battery storage solutions and grid modernization. This is critical for handling the rising share of renewables in the power mix for stable electricity supply in India.
Boost to EVs and Sustainable Manufacturing
The budget has also provided tax incentivesand subsidies to extend the selection of electric vehicles and build out EV charging infrastructure. Another key need is domestic battery manufacturing, with modern arrangements pointed at diminished import reliance.
A big impetus has also been provided for sustainable manufacturing, nudging industries toward cleaner production methods and investment in carbon capture technologies.
What This Means for India’s Clean Energy Future
With Budget 2025, India is taking strong steps toward energy independence and climate action. The country is on track to meet its goal of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, with impetus given to local manufacturing, green hydrogen, and energy storage.
These measures will not only strengthen the renewable energy sector in India but also create employment, attract investment, and position the country as a leader in global clean energy innovation.
