Telangana is now making a concerted action for renewable energy and green sources of energy, with between ₹80,000 crore and ₹1 lakh crore having been secured in energy investment. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka addresses the House during the question hour and flagged the green commitment of the state in sustainable energy with a detailed Green Power Policy aiming for a clean source of energy in the region at affordable rates.
Renewable Energy Targets to Be Achieved
Telangana has faced a stagnant period of green energy policy in the last decade under a fast-expanding clean energy agenda worldwide. The state has been making ambitious targets of achieving 20,000 MW of green power by 2030 and 40,000 MW in 2040. To this end, the government is encouraging the generation of power from solar, wind, green hydrogen, and other renewable resources. The single-window clearance system for investments has been put into place so the business and developers have a simplified process to interact with.
Incentives and Land Use for Renewables
Telangana is offering incentives such as a stamp duty reimbursement and a fast-tracked Non-Agricultural Lands Assessment Act (NALA) conversion to create an environment conducive to investments in green energy. Various vacant lands owned by the government, including those of the endowment and irrigation departments, are being used for solar and floating solar power projects to meet the rising demand for power.
Women in Charge of Solar Power
Telangana proposes the first-in-the-nation initiative of solar power generation of 1,000 MW, with women self-help groups (SHGs) and Telangana Genco. It intends to lease the vacant lands with SHG women so that they are empowered to become industrialists with the government assuring solar power buy-back. This initiative would not just enhance renewables but also provide economic opportunities for women in the state.
Future of Green Energy in Telangana
With strategically enumerated policy initiatives, investment-friendly incentives, and clearly laid groundwork for renewable energy development in Telangana, it aspires to become a leader in India’s clean energy transition. The commitment of the government to green hydrogen, wind and solar will help the state position itself as a central player in India’s sustainability objectives, strengthening its economic growth and job creation.
