POLYVANTIS, global leader in the multi-material solutions market, commissioned the high-power solar energy facility on its factory campus in Weiterstadt, Germany. With installed capacity of 3.6 megawatts (MW) and an approximate yearly output of some 3.3 gigawatt-hours (GWh), the solar power plant will generate close to 10% of the total electricity demand at the site.

This green power initiative will enable the company to save around 750 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO₂) annually, equivalent to over 900 average domestic dwelling homes’ yearly energy consumption. This initiative is affirming POLYVANTIS’s leadership in climate action and sustainability through embracing state-of-the-art, clean technologies.

“The solar park installation is a milestone towards a resource-efficient future and reflects our commitment to future-oriented innovation,” stated Reinhard Tag, POLYVANTIS Executive Vice President of Manufacturing. “By embracing next-generation solar technology, we are taking tangible steps towards realizing sustainable production at our factories.”

POLYVANTIS is one of the leading global players in the business of multi-material manufacturing. It has 1,500 workers in 15 locations worldwide and sectors such as automobiles, building construction, electricals and electronics, air and railways transportation, medical, lighting, signs, and security.

Renowned for its high-tech product portfolio, POLYVANTIS is the owner of some of the most valuable and well-established brands in the market. Among these are PLEXIGLAS® and ACRYLITE® for polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) sheet and film semi-finished products, and LEXAN™ for polycarbonate sheet and film. The organization provides high-performance solutions in sheet and film form that address the changing demands of the current industry.

    Sustainability Roadmap and Future Projects

The opening of the solar park in Weiterstadt marks a significant milestone in POLYVANTIS’s overall sustainability strategy. The company has set itself up to expand its renewable energy infrastructure even more in the coming years, meeting international climate objectives and its own goal of minimizing environmental impact.
