Odisha has enhanced its power source by opening a 16 crore electricity substation at Kotia Gram Panchayat (GP). The objective of the new facility is to enhance the quality of power, stable voltage, and reliability of supply in the remote and strategically viable Kotia region that has traditionally experienced challenges to do with unstable power supply.

This was the opening of the substation by the top officials of the state as part of the wider initiative in Odisha to modernize the electricity system and provide equitable services relating to access to stable power generation to both rural and border regions.

    Speaking Long-Term Energy Dilemmas

Years on, Kotia GP and surrounding villages have endured constant outage, low voltage, and insufficient capacity of the grid affecting homes, schools, health amenities, and small business establishments. The newly purchased substation will be specially implemented with the aim of making the power flow much easier and relational to the reliance on remote points in the grid.

According to officials, thousands of consumers will directly benefit from the project, as it will guarantee round-the-clock power and comeback speed in response to faults, especially at times of peak demand and unfavorable weather.

    Developing Rural Areas and Provisions

Good rural development heavily depends on reliable electricity, and it is projected that the Kotia substation will benefit rural development in terms of drinking water supply schemes, primary health centers, digital education programs, and local businesses.

The development of the power supply will also stimulate small industries and livelihoods in the area.

The project is in line with Odisha, which has concentrated on enhancing last-mile power delivery as part of the national and state-level electrification and distribution reform programs.

Single-phase Modern Design of Efficient Power Distribution

The 16 crore substation is constructed using modern equipment and safety measures to guarantee efficient and safe power flow through the use of advanced transformers, protection systems, and automated controls in the construction.

The officials of power emphasized that the new infrastructure will enable them to minimize the technical losses and better the general grid performance in the region.

One of a Greater Power Structure Push

The Kotia substation is a part of investments being done by Odisha on power substations, transmission lines, and distribution improvements in a bid to achieve increased electricity demand and inclusive growth.

The state government repeated its intention to provide more people with access to reliable electricity and increase the quality of the services throughout urban and rural areas.

In general, the Kotia GP substation commissioning is a step in the right direction towards the construction of a durable and reliable power grid in the underserved regions in Odisha.
