The Solar Energy Corporation of India has led in issuing a tender for 1,200 MW of solar-wind hybrid projects. These projects will optimize land use and increase grid stability through the combined generation of solar and wind energy. Additionally, the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation has issued tenders for 1,000 MW of floating solar projects, harnessing water bodies to generate clean energy without using precious land resources.

    Present Renewable Energy Capacity

On January 20, 2025, India’s total installed capacity of non-fossil fuel-based energy was 217.62 GW. This includes vast contributions from solar and wind energy sources. The country added a record 24.5 GW of solar and 3.4 GW of wind in 2024, representing more than a two-fold increase in solar installations and a 21% increase in wind installations year-over-year compared to 2023.

    Approach Changes and Speculations

The rise in renewable energy capacity can be credited to government motivations and approach changes that have increased domestic solar and wind turbine manufacturing ventures. These activities have made an empowering environment that has impelled development in renewable ventures across the nation.

Private Sector Support on the Rise

The expanding number of tenders underlines expanded private division intrigued in India’s renewable energy advertise. The enormous players, Tata Control, Adani Green, and Recharge Control, forcefully offered for ventures, advancing arrangement motivating forces and innovation headways to construct clean energy portfolios. This organization is quintessential as the Indian government and private players set out on scaling renewable energy adoption to guarantee energy security.

    Challenges and the Street Ahead

While progress has been quick, challenges still exist in assembly India’s yearning targets. Land securing issues, transmission bottlenecks, and financing obstacles oblige large-scale venture execution. With continued approach support, grid modernization efforts, and progresses in energy capacity arrangements, India is balanced to overcome these obstructions and sustain its authority in the worldwide renewable energy transition.

    Future Viewpoint

With a solid pipeline of ventures and proceeded arrangement back, India is well on its way to assembly its renewable energy targets.  The recent tenders and capacity additions reflect the nation’s commitment to the transition to a sustainable and clean energy future. In short, the renewable energy sector of India saw tremendous development in January 2025 through huge tender announcements and capacity additions, further solidifying its position among the leading nations in the world in the adoption of clean energy.
