India accomplished a notable breakthrough in renewable energy in 2024, including a record 24.5 GW of solar power capacity, which is more than twofold the increments in 2023. Wind energy too developed, with 3.4 GW included, checking a 21% increment over the past year. These improvements pushed India’s add up to renewable energy (RE) capacity to 209.44 GW, with solar energy accounting for 47% of the full, making it the biggest contributor.

    Solar Energy Soars

Within the utility-scale solar segment, India included 18.5 GW, a 2.8-fold increment from 2023. According to JMK Research, this unprecedented surge is attributed to falling solar module prices and growing adoption by the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) sectors

Rajasthan driven the charge with 7.09 GW, taken after by Gujarat (4.32 GW) and Tamil Nadu (1.73 GW), contributing 71% of add up to utility-scale establishments.

Rooftop solar installations grew by 53%, including 4.59 GW, much obliged to the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Launched in 2024, the plot empowered over 7 lakh housetop establishments in fair 10 months. Within the off-grid section, 1.48 GW of capacity was included, a 197% increment from 2023, highlighting efforts to promote solar in rural and remote areas.

    Arrangements Fueling Development
Government initiatives, led by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), played a key part. The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana gives budgetary help for private housetop sun oriented establishments and motivations for DISCOMs to streamline controls.

Complementing this initiative, the PM-KUSUM Scheme focuses on empowering the agricultural sector with solar energy. Its three components include:

    • 10,000 MW of decentralized ground-mounted solar plants.
    • 14 lakh stand-alone solar pumps.
    • Solarization of 35 lakh grid-connected pumps through feeder-level solarization.

    Wind Energy’s Revival

Wind energy saw eminent growth, with 3.4 GW included in 2024. Gujarat topped the list with 1,250 MW, taken after by Karnataka (1,135 MW) and Tamil Nadu (980 MW), bookkeeping for 98% of new establishments.

    A Greener Future

India’s renewable energy victory in 2024 grandstands its commitment to clean energy. With strong arrangements, innovative headways, and state-led activities, the nation is quickening toward its supportability objectives, setting the organize for proceeded development within the a long time ahead.
