Hero Electric, an Indian-based company which is a producer of electric two-wheelers, has joined forces with ElectricPe, an evolving EV charging and energy system platform, in order to enhance public and semi-public charging structures. This partnership is expected to resolve one of the largest barriers to EV adoption in India the lack of and poor distribution of charging infrastructure.
ElectricPe will install its charging solutions through the partnership in the network of Hero Electric dealerships, residential societies, and commercial centers as well as urban areas with high traffic.
Target Two-Wheeler and Last-Mile EV Users
The programme is mainly aimed at assisting electric two-wheelers and light electric vehicles that are used to ensure that people commute and make last-mile deliveries. Hero Electric clients will have access to interoperable charging network provided by ElectricalPe with the help of a single mobile application, which will allow easy location search, payment, and charging control.
This strategy will go a long way in alleviating range anxiety among the urban and semi-urban EV drivers.
Scalable and Technology-Driven Infrastructure
ElectricPe will install smart AC chargers which will be compatible with various brands of EVs and battery packs. These chargers will facilitate real-time monitoring and energy control and even remote diagnostics that will provide high-utilization and performance.
The implementation will be progressive, whereby the initial rollout will refer to the major metropolitan cities, Tier-2 cities, and Tier-3 cities where EV uptake is gradually increasing.
In favor of Clean Mobility Goals in India
The collaboration is consistent with the national goal in India to fast-track the use of electric cars and less reliance on fossil fuels. As the government calls on the masses to electrify two-wheelers and last-mile transportation, these types of partnerships with the private sector are now essential in filling the gaps of the infrastructure.
The experts of the industry suppose that this type of alliance may help to reduce greatly the price of deploying the charging infrastructure and increase the coverage rate on a national scale.
The market Impact and Industry outlook
The EV charging market in India will experience the fastest growth in the coming ten years due to the increase in sales of EVs, favourable policies and decreased costs of batteries. With the high number of customers with Hero Electric and technology based charging through ElectricPe, the joint venture may be in a good position to develop a strong and scalable charging system.
Future Outlook
With the increased use of EVs, it is expected that alliances between auto companies and the charging solutions developer will become the reality. The Hero Electric-ElectricPe partnership is an indication that the EV market is becoming less mature with infrastructure growth keeping close to vehicle sales, and India is getting a bit more compatible with a sustainable and electrified future of mobility.
