Engie SA is a French multination electric utility company with bases in La Défense, Courbevoie. Engie’s operations range from electricity production and distribution to gas natural, nuclear energy, renewable energy, district energy, and petroleum operations, including the upstream and downstream activities. With an eye on its future in India, ENGIE has introduced a dedicated Supply & Energy Management business unit.
It enables India to make the transition to a low-carbon economy by linking ENGIE’s renewable energy portfolio to Indian consumers. The business unit will seek to optimize energy sourcing, keep costs in check, and drive sustainability across industries.
Building India’s Energy Transition
ENGIE India CEO & Country Manager Amit Jain underscored the importance of this expansion. “We are delighted to strengthen our contribution to India’s energy transition by introducing our Supply & Energy Management business. This development will allow Indian businesses to navigate the changing power landscape in an efficient manner. As a global leader in renewable Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), ENGIE is committed to offering clean and long-term energy solutions,” he further added.
ENGIE has been a keen player in India’s energy space for more than three decades now, with specific focus on renewable energy over the past decade. ENGIE currently operates a 2.3GW solar and wind portfolio and plans to take its renewable capacity to 7GW by 2030. Besides, ENGIE is also investing in next-generation energy solutions like battery storage and hybrid renewables to further add strength to India’s green energy basket.
A Strategic Market for ENGIE’s World Strategy
India has been the most important market for ENGIE’s growth in renewables, according to Edouard Neviaski, Executive Vice President of ENGIE.
“India has been the key market for ENGIE’s growth in the renewables business and this new office is a testimonial to the skills of ENGIE in Supply & Energy Management. Our target is to propose innovative energy solutions that will take an important position in the regional sustainable development,” he further noted.
Enhancing Indo-French Energy Cooperation
The inauguration also marks increased Indo-French collaboration in the area of renewable energy. HE Mr. Thierry Mathou, French Ambassador to India, wished ENGIE good luck with this project.
“ENGIE’s growth in Supply & Energy Management business in India is a testament to the strong energy partnership between France and India. Organizations such as ENGIE are pioneering clean energy solutions and contributing to India’s vibrant energy sector,” he said.
Solutions Customized to Varying Industries
Bernd Dinauer, head of ENGIE’s Supply & Energy Management business in India, underscored the significance of the initiative. “With our experience in power markets and leveraging our renewable capacities, we want to offer Indian businesses world-class, secure, and renewable energy solutions. This is a quantum jump in establishing a sustainable and successful energy industry in India,” he added.
ENGIE stands alone in the Indian energy sector with solutions ranging from asset optimization, risk management, LNG supply, power procurement, and decarbonization strategy. These solutions are aimed at manufacturing, commercial real estate, and industrial operations to provide cost-efficient and sustainable access to energy.
Through this growth, ENGIE strengthens its position as the leader in India’s renewable energy revolution even further, providing smart energy solutions and establishing itself as a reliable ally in India’s green energy revolution.
