Amplus Solar, a prominent player in India’s commercial and industrial (C&I) renewable energy sector, has officially rebranded as Gentari. This strategic step intends to consolidate the company’s identity and place its renewable energy operations under a single umbrella, Gentari, and increase its ability to provide end-to-end clean energy solutions within the nation.

A Unified Brand towards a Sustainable Planet

Amplus Solar became part of Gentari group as early as 2023 and became a significant addition to its clean energy business in the renewable sector. The merger is deeper than ever before for Amplus Solar’s C&I business combined with Gentari’s utility-scale pipeline. The merger under one brand aims to simplify operations and provide scalable clean energy solutions to distributed and utility-scale markets.

“This rebrand represents more than just a name change—it marks the next phase of Gentari’s integrated strategy for India as one of our key markets,” said Sushil Purohit, CEO of Gentari. “By bringing together our capabilities in C&I and utility-scale renewables under one roof, we are strengthening our foundation to deliver greater value to our customers.”

    Leadership Transition to Drive Growth

As part of this transition, Sharad Pungalia, formerly CEO of Amplus Solar, has been appointed as the Head of Gentari India. With over two decades of experience in India’s energy sector, Pungalia has overseen the growth of more than 2.4 GW of operational and under-construction distributed energy assets. He will be responsible for Gentari’s integrated business in India, including renewable energy, hydrogen, and green mobility businesses.

“Sharad’s leadership at Amplus Solar has been instrumental in strengthening Gentari’s foothold in the renewables space,” Purohit added. “His depth of industry experience and track record in scaling clean energy solutions position him well to further propel our India operations forward.”

    Gentari’s Growing Renewable Energy Footprint

Petronas’ clean energy division Gentari has been growing its renewable energy portfolio across the world very fast. In India, the company manages approximately 1.9 GW of solar power for over 400 C&I customers, with an additional 300 MW of projects nearing final investment decisions.

The name change of Amplus Solar to Gentari forms a part of an overarching plan of consolidating and expanding the footprint of Gentari in competitive markets such as India and Australia. The company also hopes to mobilize funds to meet future needs as it works to capitalize on its highly ambitious clean energy vision, which centers around the theme of providing end-to-end solutions across clean mobility, hydrogen, and renewables.

Consequences for India’s Clean Energy Segment

India’s goal to achieve net-zero by 2070 has seen significant investment in clean energy. Gentari’s consolidation of its renewable energy businesses under one brand is likely to position it well to serve India’s energy transition strategy. Leveraging its combined experience across C&I and utility-scale projects, Gentari is well-placed to provide end-to-end clean energy solutions which satisfy the varied needs of its clients.
