Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL), the largest private power transmission and distribution company in India, has been awarded a Rs 2,800 crore Gujarat power transmission project. The project is expected to enable production of Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia from Mundra by green energy supply for the first time in India’s renewable push.

The Transmission System for Green Hydrogen/Ammonia Production Potential in Mundra, Gujarat project entails expansion of the Navinal (Mundra) electrical substation by two new 765/400kV transformers. A 75 km long 765kV double-circuit transmission line will also be constructed between the Navinal substation and the Bhuj substation. This facility will add strength to the transmission network to provide efficient and clean energy supply to future green hydrogen and ammonia production units.

By this project, AESL’s transmission network will be strengthened by 150 cKM of new transmission lines and upgraded transformation capacity by 3,000 MVA. The overall infrastructure of the company will include 25,928 cKM of transmission lines and 87,186 MVA of transformation capacity. The project would bolster Gujarat’s power grid, taking into consideration the state’s rising ambitions for renewable energy.

AESL took over the project under Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) with PFC Consulting Limited as the bid coordination process facilitator. The project’s Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) was handed over to AESL on March 20, 2025. The company shall commission the project within 36 months. On operationalization, it will play a significant part in curbing carbon emissions and India’s acceleration of its clean energy ambitions.

This is AESL’s sixth large order in the ongoing fiscal year, taking its order book value to around Rs 57,561 crore. The company is steadily building its base in the transmission business and is a leader in India’s renewable energy infrastructure.

    About AESL
