The startup plans to build India’s largest integrated solar manufacturing unit in Maharashtra.
Three entrepreneurs have come together to launch LNK Energy, a clean energy venture with a planned investment of Rs 10,000 crore over five years. The company made its formal announcement today, along with details of its first project.
Who’s Behind It
The founding team brings diverse business experience. Paritosh Ladhani runs SLMG Beverages, India’s biggest Coca-Cola bottler. Dr Kushaagra Nandan previously co-founded SunSource Energy and now heads REnergy Dynamics. Varun Karad is a bioenergy entrepreneur serving as CEO at RED.
The Maharashtra Project
LNK Energy‘s first move is to build a 6 GW solar cell and module factory in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. But here’s what sets it apart. The facility will also make ingots and wafers in-house.
India has struggled on this front. Domestic ingot and wafer capacity currently sits below 2 GW. Most manufacturers still depend on imports for these components. The new plant will span 60 acres, and an MOU with the state government has already been signed.
The company also eventually wants to manufacture junction boxes, batteries, and storage systems.
Beyond Manufacturing
LNK Energy isn’t limiting itself to making equipment. Green hydrogen production is part of the roadmap, aimed at heavy industries that can’t easily cut emissions.
Power generation is also on the cards. The company plans to operate as an IPP and develop hybrid open-access projects combining solar with storage solutions.
What The Founders Say
“Scale, quality and execution discipline are non-negotiable,” said Ladhani, pointing to his experience building large manufacturing operations.
Dr Nandan called LNK Energy a “long-term institution rather than a short-cycle opportunity.” He stressed the need to combine technology depth with capital discipline.
Karad sees integration as key. “Manufacturing, green fuels and renewable power need to work together,” he noted.
With the government pushing domestic manufacturing and PLI schemes supporting the sector, LNK Energy enters at an opportune moment. Execution will determine whether these big plans translate into reality.
