John Cockerill and Viettel Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday, opening the door to long-term collaboration in green hydrogen production and energy transition solutions.

The agreement, signed during the State Visit of Belgium to Vietnam, gives a vision for the growth of a Vietnam-based supply chain and manufacturing of pressurised alkaline water electrolysers. The electrolysers are one of the crucial elements in the production of green hydrogen, an integral aspect of the world’s shift toward clean energy. The partnership also aims to grow opportunities in cooling towers, molten salts, and nuclear energy solutions, both in the domestic and global markets, with emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region.

Leading Vietnam’s Transition to a Clean Energy Future

With Vietnam accelerating its carbon-neutrality and renewable energy agenda, this cooperation is a watershed moment in the greening of Vietnam. Viettel Group, a top Vietnamese industrial and tech group, has a strong dedication to high-tech production and renewable energy development. The cooperation with John Cockerill, world leader in hydrogen technology and decarbonization solutions, further establishes Vietnam’s aim to create a strong energy system.

Signing partners are Francois Michel, CEO of John Cockerill, and Nguyen Manh Hai, Director of Viettel Group’s High Technology Industry Management Division, who view this partnership as consonant with sustainable development goals Vietnam seeks.

Enhancing Domestic and International Hydrogen Market

The MoU not only establishes a domestic supply chain for green hydrogen technology but also positions Vietnam as a strategic trading hub for such solutions in the Asia-Pacific. As the global demand for cleaner energy options expands, this act can further accelerate Vietnam’s profile in the scheme of the world’s energy transition.

The collaboration is evidence of the commitment of both nations to sustainability and technological progress. With the synergy of John Cockerill’s green hydrogen and energy-efficient solutions experience and Viettel’s significant industrial capabilities, the collaboration will catalyze significant innovations in Vietnam’s clean energy.
