Opt Alt Mobility Solutions Private Limited (OAMS) has been granted a 20-year design patent on its novel four-wheeler (4W) EV with battery swap technology. The patent makes OAMS the first and lone passenger car original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in India to be so granted, further solidifying the nation’s position in the international EV market. With India having the third-largest passenger car market globally, OAMS’ innovation will certainly drive the adoption of EVs and transition towards a cleaner, more efficient transport space.

    A Battery Swapping Breakthrough Innovation

The dual-battery technology patented by OAMS is made up of an add-on highway cruising battery and a fixed daily driving battery. The innovative design maximizes vehicle weight, maximizes battery efficiency, and provides improved performance at reasonable prices to consumers. Maybe the most striking aspect of this system is swapping batteries in less than three minutes, and that gives it a very realistic alternative to normal charging stations. By incorporating this innovative battery swapping technology, OAMS can minimize charging downtime and eradicate range anxiety, two of the biggest concerns for EV owners.

    Government Push for Battery Swapping

The Indian government, working in association with NITI Aayog, has been pushing battery swapping as a means to increase resource efficiency and sustainability in the EV ecosystem. The technology not only saves precious resources such as lithium and cobalt but also supports the country’s overall clean mobility targets.
OAMS initiatives augment these measures by offering a successful alternative to fixed charging points, which remain a challenge in most city and rural locations.

Driving Collaboration for a Sustainable Future

Sandeep Pathak, OAMS Founder & CEO was overjoyed with this milestone and reiterated the organization’s pledge to revolutionizing the EV market in India. He also appealed to industry stakeholders, investors, and leaders to join hands and grow this innovation to create a greener, cleaner tomorrow. With lower costs, quicker battery swap, and a more optimized car design, OAMS innovation will transform EV adoption in India, making green transport more affordable for millions.
